You need to be self-sufficient as there are no facilities provided. But if it is bush camping at the beach with only the sea breeze to keep you company that gets the juices flowing, then work your way down through the gears, drop the tyre pressures when the gravel starts smacking the insides of the guards and rock on in to a world of no-numbered campsites, no toilets, no showers, no rubbish bins, no water and no rice burners with thumping subs. How good is that? In the middle of the beach, the bank is steep and nearly impossible to drive on except at low tide when the flats are exposed. The tracks are soft, but most capable drivers with a camper trailer or off-road caravan shouldnt have a problem. There are 40 undesignated sites however there are no facilities. There are many tracks down onto the beach and most are steep, soft and narrow (and many have deep, fresh wheel tracks in them that only go half-way up). We have been here back in 2016 and 2017. About 40 minutes from Bundaberg in the north and Woodgate in the south, Kinkuna Beach is a long, narrow strip of sand with a steep bank that looks over Hervey Bay. The memorial is beautifully placed overlooking one of their favourite playgrounds and stands to remind us to all to be just that little bit careful whilst indulging our passions. Kinkuna camping area is in Burrum Coast National Park, 46km north of Maryborough or 57km south of Bundaberg in the Wide Bay area. A little less advertised, but one of the best and wonderful spot to explore. #2. The park entrance is on the left, 3km before Woodgate Beach township. This trail is great for hiking, mountain biking, and walking, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
